Hmmmm
Ok lol I am about to pee my pants, bc ariel had this link on her profile and its insane.... its the Manamanah!!! muppet thing its awesome. You should got ot it if youy haven't already seen it: http://movies.quadratic.net/Muppet_Show_Manamanah.mpegits awesome brightened my day a bunch! I am so excited but im not exactly sure why. Cool things happened today like former mayor of NYC Rudolph Guliani was here today, I saw him but didn't get to hear him! Darn it! lol besides that I almost had an anxiety attack bc I needed to deposit my check really bad but i dont have a bank on campus and I dont have a car...so I called laura and asked her to give me a ride and she did so that rocked! Then of course I had to treat her to Boba or bubble tea which rocks and if you don't know what it is should IM me so I can tell you how it changed my life... not really but you should IM to find out what it is anyways. I am so hyper once again! Urgh why can't I be this awake in class? Oh well. Hmmm new topic: wanna know how lazy I am? Well here at rice we have residential colleges instead of dorms and each college has its own servery. Well Sid's is one of the worst on campus... but I am way to lazy to walk 200 feet or less to the good servery at Weiss/Hanzen, Im pathetique! I am also white, "way to white to be from Atlanta" said Anna! oh well I guess I will have to deal with that. Ummmm I am trying to think of funny things from my past to tell you. LAst night my roomate and I were exchanging funny stories... bed time stories... oo the scandal. Well I told him this one time when I was like seven or so. I was staying with my Grandparents in their mountain house and we (my older brother, cousins kaylee and David and I)decided to watch "Jason goes to Hell!!!!" Dun dun DUN!!!! and well to say the least i scared the crap out of all of us, but it really got to my cousin Kaylee. Well that night around 2am she wakes up and starts running around the house screaming at the top of her lungs "Jasons gonna get me....!" well after about 15 minutes of this the entire household is present all the lights are on and Kaylee still hasn't stopped running around the house. So my Grandfather grabs her petite child frame and lifts her up and shakes her! Then she kicks him in the balls and keeps running! Finally my Grandmother convinced her to calm down and the night came to a halt! Story number two: When I was young about 4, my mother took me outside to play on the patio. I was having fun and all of the sudden my mom made the comment, "Daniel its hot out here!" Me being the loving caring child that I was and still am decided to cool her off! I went behind her and grabbed the glass of Ice water and poured it over her head! Needless to say she didn't appreciate it! I got in trouble... oh well! Band busses and Hyperness
Wazzzup yous guys! I am so freaking hyper! An d I dont know why, but this actually is a bad thing bc I have to wake up in about 6 hours sounds fun right! Oh well! I have used 4 exclamation poiints in a row! Five! Six! enough. So Yeah I am starting to kinda miss everyone. Not that I didn't miss anyone before, its just now it is beginning to sink in that we probly wont go back home and be all chummy! But thus is the way my cookie crumbled. New friends, new state, new climate, new life basically. Anyways, I would just like to say that Micaehla is freaking incredible, and I know we are going to stay as tight as ever. I miss her so much, but still there isn't that awkwardness even though we are far away that I have felt with a bunch of ppl. We have been talking once a week on the phone for like hours its amazing, and I love hearing her voice again. Rice is amazing though. Tonight I saw Jon Kimura Parker play the Emperor piano Concerto, and holy crap it was amazing. Also I went to Dr. Farwells B-day party today and that rocked as well, even though I forgot to wake up and woke up instead to Jennifer calling me... oops! and it was 2 o'clock no excuse i know! Anyways, I ahve been craving sweets all night long. Urgh! ok what to talk about. remember band busses, weren't they fun! We used to become so scary late at night and oh the conversations we would have. Band busses were like little universities and the hall would always resound with talks of sex, food, and politics, along with the "occaisional" convo about music. I miss band busses bc they were fun and care free, a time when the world just sorta stayed outside and the hw was constantly ignored and we jsut got to be real with our friends, oh band busses where did you go. I miss you! | | Sunday, September 26th, 2004 | | 1:04 am |
oo ooo ooo awe
Other great things from my fast fleeting teen years: In the middle school era I used to stay up really late bc I thought it was cool. and during these late night adventures I would talk on the phone for hours on end about absolutely nothing... and then eventually someone would fall asleep and the gentle brush of air across the reciever would alert the other that it was time to go to bed. Also the phone came in handy when mom or dad's car decided not tempt the p-units with the joy of going fast. Us middle schoolers would sit in front of the television and watch the same movie at two differnt places and some times when we would get really revolutionary we would try to sync them. It was the next best thing when you dont have a car and actually have the same movie! Fun times in HS: Band! Oh yeah Marys of course. Being naked was always a plus!Hot tubs were cool! Awesome friends who actually cared! Current Music: I wish i had some on | | Saturday, September 25th, 2004 | | 1:20 pm |
Yep... Today I was suppose to have a haircut at 12 but since I dont have a car, I decided not to, mostly bc truddging along in the muggyness or the rain from Ivan just didn't seem to be worth it. Oh well I guess I will keep the shag and wait for anotyher day. Oh I have decided that I am old! I will officially be 19 in a little more than 2 months! Do you realize that tha means I am almost 20. Out of teen years.... I am scared My teenage years accomplishments: 13 figure out that girls are "cool" for the first time 14 make a sarcastic comment for the first time 15 play spin the bottle ("volleyball") for the first time and like it 16 fall for someone the first time 17 win a bunch of somethings for the first time 18 leave all my friends for the first time 19... not there yet | | Saturday, September 18th, 2004 | | 10:01 pm |
Bored!!!
Haha ok so first I have to tell you all about what last night was like! I had to do security for the Sid 80's party, and unfortunately i got placed at the worst position at the worst time. I had to regulate the elevators on the first floor for the hour between 11-12. Basically my job was to make sure no more than twenty ppl got on the elevators and that alcohol didn't get on the vators either. Well let me tell you drunk people don't like to give up their alcohol nor do they enjoy being told "you will just have to wait for the next one." So needless to say I got cussed at several times and I got asked "would you like some of this!!!!" But this misery was lightened by the fact that almost everyone was drunk and drunk people tend to do really goofy things, in fact one severely inebriated girl cam up and started poking me, and when i asked her what she needed she said, "oh I thought you were the elevator button." Anyways that was that. Today kinda sucked. I woke up around 1 or 2 i can't remember and then walked to Shepherd to practice and pay the lady for my Alexander technique lesson. Well, my practicing absolutely sucked, mostly do to the fact that I didn't go to bed til 3 and then yelling at drunks doesn't really help either. So I only practiced for about two hours. Then I called my fam and found out that they are thinking about not buying a plane ticket for me to come home for thanksgiving, that made me a little bummed. Then it seemed as though the entire college had left and I was stuck alone, but that gave me sometime to read/ sleep some more. Then I finally decided that food would be a good thing so around 8 I got a pizza and went to see Eleanore bc she had been studying all alone for a while, so I went and made her have a little study break and eat some pizza. Then I came up stairs and talked and took a shower even though I had taken one only 6 hours before. Oh well thus was the relatively bad day of a poor musi. Oh well its good thing I don't get depressed easily! thanks God for Flintstones Vitamins! | | Friday, September 17th, 2004 | | 12:57 am |
Urgh and Mmmmm!
Hey guys sorry I have been really bad about keeping this updated. Anyways, today was a bad day, but not really. I sorta got upset and frustrated with myself and my stupid youthfulness. I want to be all grown up and trained. LOL oh well now that I am past that little fantastical fit, I will proceed to tell you about my great dinner. I went to Li Li Dumpling house down Belaire in China Town and it was really great. The food is served family style but we all, Zack, Katina, Megan, and Katina's roomate, and I, ordered seperate meals so we could ahve left overs and it was so freaking good. Ummm I had three meat fried flat noodles and general Tso's chicken. MMMMMMM dont you want some???? Well then I we went to a T-spot and I got a really good Boba tea. I had tried Boba before but this one, Mango and fresh banana was freaking amazing. For any of you who are wondering what this is I am talking about, it is tea with diffrent stuff in it made sorta in to a cold or frozen drink but the cool part is the tapioca thats at the bottom. Big tapioca balls mmmmm. You should all go out and try it if you haven't already. Well night time for like 6 hours then waking for my freaking 8 o'clock keyboard class. Night all! Love all! Peace all! Crazyness all! Enough all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dan loves you, and you, and you who! (Im feeling weird just to let you know!) | | Saturday, August 21st, 2004 | | 4:05 pm |
The week
So I am getting kinda scared. Today is Dis-O where all the other students come and they have a huge party to celebrate the end of O-week and the Campus becoming wet again. So basically it will be a night of much drinking and other stuff, but anyways. Besides that Im good, yesterday we registered and what not and I am taking about 17-18 hours of classes and either German or Italian, and a LPAP intro to Country Western Dance... lol I know what the heck right? welll I wanted to take Alexander tech ique but by the time I got to sign up for it it was closed so that one was the only one I could fit into my schedule, whatever. Then later we went to LAI LAI noodle house and had great chinese food and then came back and went to see Napolean Dynamite but I was the only one who liked it oh well. the day bf that we did something but I can't remember what. so anyways on weds night we had the scavenger hunt which was really crazy and you dont really want to know what stuff we had to do. anyways that was my week. talk to me for details... lol! | | Wednesday, August 18th, 2004 | | 10:04 am |
So the last two days have been busy...
Ok I am going to do this quite rapidly. On monday we started out with a gay lit exam which I proud to say I passed so I dont have to ever take a lit class again... but I might anyways. Next we had a bunch of different things happen. We ate lunch and then broke off into major groups. So I went to Shepherd and we had a meeting with the faculty and they told us what our first year will be like. Next the music majors split into our individual specialties and discussed with our individual studio teachers. Dr. Farwell my teacher seems incredibly nice and I feel really comfortable and safe being in her studio. Next we met with Professor Jaber and he told us about a bunch of the literature we would be doing this year. Apparently I will be in at least two choirs Chorale and Shepherd Singers, and we will be performing (these are the big things) Fauré Requiem, Durufle Requiem, Vivaldi Gloria, and a bunch of other things I can't remember. Next we went back to shepherd and had dinner then we had mock beer bike, which I participated in as a pusher. SID RICH won of course and definitely destroyed baker so that was good. THen immediately after we had a huge water balloon fight with baker and then went back to SID. Then we had a party we could to at wiess or we could play deathball ( which is essentially dodgeball). The party was a little strange, I mean not really no anyone and trying to walk arounf the mob looking for a familiar face that wasn't there, it was awkward so I only stayed a little while and then I went to deathball which was actually really fun. After that my advisors took my group to T(aco) C(abana) around 2 in the morning and we got some food and went back. Then the next morning we had some wellness presentation that kinda scared me it was about rape and drugs and alcohol and sex and all that stuff, but anyways. After that my friend catherine a musi and I went to have our piano placement exam but it actually just turned out to be an interview. I got placed in third level so that was cool I just hope I can make it, but then we left and had lunch. Then we had we ahad soem other thing can't remember and then later that night we had balcony ball and Vator the Traitor which consist of sending a traitor advisor to the seventh floor and letting it stop on every floor where ppl would be waiting to throw some weird concoction of stuff mainly food things on him. I had the mayo! Next we went and dousched him as he left SID. THen We had a huge game of Capture the Flag and red team won every time except for once. I was on red! Then we came back to SID and took a shower then we planned something... but its secret... thenw e took the Purity test in our advising groups. Is scored a 72 which isn't abd I am 72% pure and keep in mind that the question ranged from have you held a girl's hand to have you had sex with 85 ppl in one night with an erection that never went limp? Its very awkward... but fun none the less. Then my gourp went to mama's which was closed so we went back to Whataburger and got food to go and came back to SID. We ate in the lounge and then I went to sleep around 3:30. and then my roomate and I didn't wake up this morning so I decided to do this rather than be late to some seminar... oh well I hopoe this isn't foreshadowing of my future at Rice. | | Sunday, August 15th, 2004 | | 11:07 pm |
College
Ahhhhhhhhhh its so freaking crazy... Im at college! So today was pretty awesoem we moved in and then the day just really never stopped! We basically did a bunch of meet and greet type stuff with little groups... For all of you that I haven't explained this to... Rice has an o-week for new students and freshmen. So this whole week there are only about 700 ish ppl here and all of us are new. So far its just been incredible. After movin around 9 this morning we had lunch/brunch with our parents and roomate and stuff. After that we broke off in to our O-week groups and did ice breaker activities and for alll you ppl from LHS I met a LD bell girl who seems really nice. Then we alll tried to set up our email accounts but its been kinda difficult so as of now I stilll dont have one sorry! after that we went back to Sid (my residential College) and then we did a little more arranging of our rooms and stuff then we got dressed nicely for dinner and Matriculation. So then we went down to dinner and ate with our O-week groups and then proceeded to go to the Matriculation ceremony. It was really nice a bunch of ppl spoke and then we processed out of Stude concert hall and went to the Sallyport(rice's equivalent of the arch at UGA, but its is so much nicer seriously) So we walked through the Sallyport into the colelge and became freshmen. If I go out the Sallyport ever again apparently I wont graduate. Then we had a little shin-dig reception thing in the courtyard it was really neat a met a few new ppl and stuff. Then we all went back to our respective colleges and had more ice breakers... oh and flashback after the first secession of ice breakers we alll got dousched for the first time... that is we got doused with water from 14 floors up! Mean upper classmen! back to the story. The Ice breakers were this time with the whole sid new ppl. We played this game about naeighbors and if you love them and what you really like... balh ppl run around. Then we played stack it up were a person name something and if that applies to you then you move over a seat and sit on the person if they didn't move and thus creating stacks... well thats about it Im beat... so I goin to bed... tomorrow I have my english lit/comp placement test so... hah im goin to bed. jsut to catch up on friday I slept in New Orleans and then on saturdayw e reached Houston and I stayed in a hotel that night, and today I moved into my dorm! | | Wednesday, August 11th, 2004 | | 11:41 pm |
Today=packing+ toilet paper!!!!!!
Urgh so I wake up and my lawn is glowing with white. Oh not to mention I woke up at 7:30 am to my mom going "get up one of your friends rolled the house and its bad!" So I woke up after about five minutes of moaning in bed. And I was very angry to say the least... Who ever rolled my house... You are in for something... Muahahaha... I just wished you had chosen a better time to do it... I leave in two days and its was just not nice to give me and my mom more to do this week. Oh well I forgive Im sure I deserved it Right?? Anyways after that I was suppose to go to Sara's and have brekfast with her... but the tp made me late and so I called and had to cancel. Next I went to lowes returned a hepa filter that didn't fit my model, and then I went to the allergist and got my shots and picked up 6 viles of serum to take to rice with me. Then I came home and got some stuff together and then went to Brad's for a voice lesson, the last one if my pre-college career. Sad I know. The lesson was fantastic. A's and B's allthe way, Not bad after a very relaxing singing free summer... actually I sang a lot I jsut didn't have more that 4 lessons. haha. But Its allg ood. After coming home, I went to exerds to get some more perscriptions for college and then I got soem wendy's cause no one would go to new lucky china with me. After consuming a Big Bacon Classic, I proceeded to begin napping. Then I woke up and Packed and packed some more and Packed even more... oh wait and then some more, and somewhere in between packing and more packing I ate dinner and went back to exkerd to get a repeal refund for my meds. and then I came home and packed some more. But anyways tomorrow I have to wake up early to go hiking with Michaela. Guys You all have meant so much to me! Its sad leaving but I know that what awaits me is what I am suppose to do. Please don't forget me and I will not be able to forget all of you! Umm its beginning to sink in!
So guess what we really did graduate... and apparently we dont have to ever go to high school again. Its in a way sad and terrifying, but in another its liberating. Ariel and I conversed late tonight about how today it had caught up to us. We left Lassiter HS never to return... those kids who were once our fellow inmates... wait I meant classmates, are still there but we were granted absolution from our governmental bondage. So today the facts finally hit me I'm not ever going to attend classes at Lassiter and my friends are leaving. Oh well off the sentimental and on to the hectic. Today was insane, and not until now have I actually been able to sit down at my house and just chill. Beginning at around 8 this morning my day began. My little bookbag toting brother climbs in to the car carrying a waid assortemnt of paper materials and other assorted supplies, and we are off. My mother and I travel to Mabry drop andrew off for his first day of seventh grade. His home room teacher and social studies teacher is Mrs. Barbara Baylor... haha "baking with baylor, baking with baylor, with baylor its the best!"(relapse to ms fun!) "did ya catch that jimmy!" after that we went to the Wal-mart supercenter to purchase other assorted college necessities including a bike chain, some medcine type stuff, and other stuff I can't quite remember. Next we traveld over to the mall. There I got a new pair of Birkenstock clogs, a new pair of dress shoes, and some stuff from the Hallmark store for my dads B-day on the 30. Then we went to Chalise and Co. to get my hair cut... I went a little shorter than I had planned to but Dawn (my hair stylist since I was 8) convinced me, since I will need time to find an adeqaute substitue for my time at Rice. Then we went to Garden Rdge to look for some freaking plastic dishes. There seriously are no nice plastic dishes, but I did find some nice plastic cups. Then we went acros to woodstock and went to Kohls and Old Navy for some stuff for ppl. Then we went to the Family Christian Book Store. There I bought the new Switchfoot CD, which rocks! Then my mom took me to Scholosky's deli and I got a very well deserved sandwich! YUM! Then I went a got my allergy shots! wait no exclaimation point... I dont like getting poked with needles! Then we went home and I was there for all of two mnutes. Then I went and conversed with the lady at excerds about perscriptions and dropped off three. Then I went to Office Max and returned my PDA and got a new view Scanner. Its tight. Then I went back home and changed and went and picked Michaela up and went to Macaronni Grill, it was uber fun. Then I brought her to my house and took a pic nad gave her her frame which say howdy on the top so she would remember I was going to school in TX. Then we went to pick Brett up from her pool. Then we the three of us, dropped Michaela off at her house and Brett and I went bowling. after that we tired to go to starbucks but thereHours have changed and now they close at 10:30. That Sucked. so I took Brett home said goodbye to her and her family, and then came home for two minutes bf going to Steak and shake with Ariel. after we conversed on politicas and other assorted life related issues, we came back to my house so I could show her some stuff and get a last pre-college picture of us together. Then took her home. adn Now I am here writing this... pfew Im done. Sheesh | | Monday, August 9th, 2004 | | 12:25 am |
urgh Cholorine... my kryptonite!
Today was rather exciting. First tere was church which Brittany picked me up for in her new car. Then the service and music was incredible, talking about the whole idea of if you keep the rules and stay flying straight you will be happy. Then I had to miss sunday school, because of the Rice alumni send off party. I went to that and met a few ppl from the atlanta area... then i came home went and bought other stuff for college... a coffee maker, telefone, and other stuff. then I came home and got into a political debate with demitri which was rather heated... but civil... Then I went to the party after picking up Ariel. The party was rather fun.. even though it felt a little awkward not being able to talk freely to so many of the ppl I consider friends. I think that was all separation anxiety kicking in... but anyways.. then around 11 I decided to throw Michaela into the pool... but then I git puched in... luckily I had the faculty to save my birks, fone, walet, watch, and other micellaneous valuables from the water. I then remembered that I was allergic to Cholorine and started feeling a little strange. I then left around 11:30 and came home took a benedryl and zytec... to keep my from dying seruiously... lol... It was weird usually I break out in hives from cholorine, but this time my face instantly began to peel and my feet itched quite horribly. but oh well, such is life. Ok time for bed. Wake up kiddies time for school to start! ... P.s. Im sorry brittany... I really am! | | Sunday, August 8th, 2004 | | 12:20 am |
Today was crazy...
So first of all... I got a new phone.. and it rocks... unlimited wirelss interent and so much more... then I bought a PDA and right after I bought I felt guilty for spending my parents money so I am taking it back... and getting an awesome scanner... Hopefully. Then I hung out with Sara... dooing what she calls vegging... which really involves peopl on television being eaten (like vegetables) by crazy really smart sharks... yeah Vegging I will keep that off my priority list of things to do. welll the being eaten part at least. Next sara and I met up with Kiersten and Jeremy and they k and j saw The Village while sara and I saw Collateral. We still can't exactly figure out why it is called Collateral but... oh well. Next we drove from regal to the avenue to visit Anna Pennington... who it was my pleasure of meeting for the first time... even though the whole time the four of the others coversed on a most gruesome topic... Dead Babies... in the form of humor... Anyways after that rondevous ended we headed alll the way back over to Chillis on barrett... and on the way we thoroughly engaged in what I have coined Stoplight clubbing****... I will go into further detail later. Then we ate several appetizers and a dessert... which was alot cheaper than the traditional ay of eating out. By this time it was already 11. So when we were done we engaged in another bout of Stoplight clubbing even though half the time we weren't at a stoplight. That was basically the end of my night! Stoplight Clubbing (as defined by Daniel Webster Williamson)- engaging in outrageous movements of the arms head, legs, fingers, tongue, other body parts and some nonhuman appendages, while stationed at a stoplight. It has been cited to cause mass hysteria among those in adjacent cars. Current Music: the hum of my computer | | Saturday, August 7th, 2004 | | 12:25 pm |
So its the end
Well we have finally come to that time in our lives where we stop graduating and start living. We have spent this summer trying to hold on to those precious memories of times when we based ourselves on what was. Now we step out into the world of what is and is to come. My advice to myself has been live for those who would live for you. I don't think anyone could go wrong with being close to those who would stand up for you. I love my friends and can't believe that I am going half way across the country, only to return a pathetique 2-3 times a year. My life has come full circle this summer and I realize that those friends who make a conscious effort to be my friend, that I can't help but reciprocate that love. This summer I made two new friend that I believe will last for the duration of my life, and I have figured out which of my HS buddies, actually consider me their friend in life. I love you all no matter what your feeling may be towards me, and I cherish those of you who have always wanted to be my friends. Thanks for a great school career to all the aforementioned; thanks in advance for a great future to the latter. |
